A native of Eastern Long Island, New York and
current resident, Jerri Castillo’s work is inspired by both the construction
and deconstruction of the landscape which is signified by the buildings erected
in such space. It is these structures and sites that she tries to
capture before they become completely altered and essentially forgotten.
She received a Bachelor in Fine Arts from Carnegie
Mellon University, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a Post-Baccalaureate
Certificate, from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and a Master in
Fine Arts from The American University in Washington D.C. Ms. Castillo has
also studied at The Florence Academy of Art, in Florence Italy and has been
the recipient of several awards including most recently the Graduate Student Mellon Travel
Grant. Her recent installations, videos and works have been shown in both
galleries and museums in New York City, Washington D.C., Philadelphia,
Pittsburgh and Tempe, Arizona.
